Alliance for Community Development

Welcome to the Alliance for Community Development ("Alliance").

The Alliance is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works at the intersection of business and community interests in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area to:

The Alliance and the Bay Area Council co-sponsor the
Bay Area Equity Fund: A Double Bottom Line Fund ("Fund"), a private venture capital fund that seeks to make investments in companies that can produce strong financial returns and strong social/environmental returns, or a "double bottom line". The Fund is managed by JPMorgan H&Q.

The utilization of double bottom line investment funds as part of regional strategies to create financial and social/environmental returns in low-income neighborhoods is a new and groundbreaking approach in the field of urban economic development. With these new tools, broad-based coalitions of non-profit organizations, government agencies, and private corporations across the country seek to make a measurable impact in increasing economic opportunities and generating wealth for residents of high poverty urban areas and reducing pollution, congestion, and gridlock for the region as a whole.

We would like to thank our major sponsors for their ongoing support of our programs and activities:
